Bug reports
From Qedoc
This page is a list page for collecting lists of bug reports. Anyone is allowed to report a bug, but please keep things tidy and professional.

If you are experiencing a problem with the software, it may not be a bug. It is worth checking out the troubleshooting section to see if your problem is listed there.

How to add a bug report
- Add a new item at the bottom of the list below.
- Use double square brackets around the title of your bug report to create a hyperlink to a new page.
- Make sure your report does not have the same name as a previous report or another page on this site.
- If you did all this right and saved the page, the list will now have a new red item at the bottom. Red means that the page doesn't exist yet.
- Now click on the new item you created, and you will be taken immediately to an editing page where you can start writing the page for your bug report.
- Write in the details of your report (as the new page) and save it. Try to be precise. Give the steps for recreating it. Upload screenshots if necessary.
- In the course of time your page will be updated with responses and status reports from our developers, and comments from other users. An assessment of the report will be made (e.g. whether it really is a bug). If it is a bug, a work-around may initially be recommended. Later a fix might be reported with a recommendation about which version to download for the fix.
- Please sign your reports using ~~~~ !

- Synchronisation: after synchronisation, too many editor tabs get crowded up. Workaround: reload module. McCormack
- The "Transfer Module to Quiz Player" in the 2.0 Maker does not work. IT just says "Could Not Start Player" in a popup window. --Hadassah 23:06, 11 October 2007 (GMT)
- Maker: In the Quiz Preview tab, when previewing questions individually from the Question Bank, the navigation buttons (Back, Done, Next) at the bottom of each question do not work. Used to work pre-2.0.--Hadassah 06:36, 14 October 2007 (GMT)
- The navigation buttons along the toolbar above the question do work, however. McCormack 05:14, 26 October 2007 (GMT)
- In the 2.0 Player, if the activities contain images, as well as titles, the rewards icons no longer appear on the activities that have been done. If the activity contains no image, then the rewards icons show. See the image on the left, please.--Hadassah 16:31, 7 November 2007 (GMT)
- This is a feature, not a bug!! Very carefully planned so, because of layout issues. McCormack 19:43, 7 November 2007 (GMT)
- Where would you put the rewards icons? You are an expert at aesthetics - far more so than I. Perhaps you could suggest a layout solution? McCormack 19:45, 7 November 2007 (GMT)
- There are basically only 4 rewards icons, my suggestion would be to place them on a new line below the title of the activity. That way, at least, the user knows which activity he/she has completed. Thank you.--Hadassah 23:44, 7 November 2007 (GMT)
- "Line below title" is a problem: programmatically, the with-image things are actually buttons, which programmatically allow one icon and one piece of text. You're requesting quite a laborious button customisation (but I'm, as ever, thinking about it). McCormack 05:16, 8 November 2007 (GMT)
- You don't have to do this, if you can do the one above. As long as there is a way for the user to know which activity has been completed, and whichever is easier to implement, that's what counts. But thank you for considering it.--Hadassah 05:26, 8 November 2007 (GMT)
- Actually I really like the icons! I want them in there too. It's just a matter of time. But I think there's no way round the button customisation. McCormack 07:13, 8 November 2007 (GMT)

- Activities: upload through Publishing looses Question count. Added new activities to Six Sigma module, but on syncronizing the activities did not upload correctly. In player activities appear with 20 questions, but should have all questions from category. Opening my version in Maker still shows them defined as such. Checked is "use all questions from selected group". Appears in pretty much all levels. Alexandra
- Category Removal/Deletion. After I deleted a "batch category name" in my module, the name of the category still stays in my questions. I had to remove each category name by clicking the questions, clicking their "##th question: categories" tab, and click the red arrow to remove the name. --Andrew Gower 03:07, 12 November 2007 (GMT)
- This is a feature request which would be addressed in the framework of a general upgrade to the categories system. McCormack 05:16, 12 November 2007 (GMT)
- Text field sometimes freezes when I was trying to write a question or write an answer. --Andrew Gower 03:07, 12 November 2007 (GMT)
- Can you provide more information? Was this only in the Quiz Maker or also in the Quiz Player? Which text field (e.g. question type)? How good a machine are you using? McCormack 05:16, 12 November 2007 (GMT)
- It was impossible to remove a specific row under the "##th question: response" tab. I had to delete all the rows in order to delete my very first row. --Andrew Gower 03:07, 12 November 2007 (GMT)
- This is known, and is a feature issue. The ability to remove the selected row will be put in as a feature request. McCormack 05:16, 12 November 2007 (GMT)
- After adding the apostrophe, a slash is added before it. I put an apostrophe in the the name "Mr. Jocz's" in the request for Contributor ID. --Andrew Gower 03:07, 12 November 2007 (GMT)
- This is an issue with how the website processes forms. It is not an issue with the Qedoc software. This may be addressed in a future website upgrade. McCormack 05:16, 12 November 2007 (GMT)
- 2.0.0.0 eLearning Designer - When I wish to have more than one presentation activity in a module, the second and subsequent presentation activities do not display questions from the correct categories. The second presentation activity display the questions from the first activity, and the subsequent presentation activity display questions from a quiz activity. I properly set the activity content to reflect the appropriate presentation categories, but they don't appear.--Hadassah 04:45, 14 November 2007 (GMT)
- As strange as it sounds, I had my activity menu tentatively set with a mixed IMAGE and no-IMAGE in the activity description, and this problem occured. But if I made the additional presentation activities include an image in their descriptions, then this problem does not happen. So this problem is moot once I made all the activities have images as part of their descriptions.--Hadassah 05:00, 14 November 2007 (GMT)
- This sounds very weird! Thanks for the good description. I'll try to recreate this. McCormack 05:39, 14 November 2007 (GMT)

- 2.0.0.0. Quiz Maker - deletion of question categories are not being updated in the Activities Content. --Hadassah 05:07, 25 November 2007 (GMT)
- Probably you mean that the drop-down box for defining the activity still allows you to select the deleted category? The work-around for the time-being is to restart the Quiz Maker. McCormack 05:22, 25 November 2007 (GMT)
- 2.0.0.0 Quiz Maker -- Use statistics for media resources are not correct for Background Image and Activity Image description and Typed Response Question types. They show '0' use when they should be at least 1. --Hadassah 05:10, 25 November 2007 (GMT)
- 2.0.0.0. Quiz Maker The Mathematical -> Spinner/Slider question type does not support a data table variable as the answer. It would be nice if it does.--Hadassah 05:34, 15 January 2008 (GMT)
- Nice suggestion - but is this a bug report or a feature request? ;-) --McCormack 06:15, 15 January 2008 (GMT)
- 2.0.2 Player -- don't know if this is a bug report or enhancement, but here is the place I'm putting it. In the PRINT RESULTS window, the STUDENT ANSWER for each question is not properly displayed. In a Hebrew-enabled quiz, would it be possible to display the Hebrew text instead of '??????' ? Thank you. An UPDATE: Apparently, this only occurs on test results that were taken prior to the active session. Test results that are currently in the session appear properly. But if I were to view the same test results another day, after reloading the player and the quiz, the player does not render the test results correctly again, and for Hebrew results it displays them as ??????. --Hadassah 01:16, 21 January 2008 (GMT)
- Thanks for the report - this has been noted. McCormack 06:56, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- 2.2.0 Quiz Player (launched from website), the quizzes shut down after submitting 14 answers. I get an error message saying "The application Qedoc Quiz Player quit unexpectedly." This has happened for all the Spanish and Chinese quiz modules I've tried. I am using an Apple Macbook.--Enace 00:32, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- If your version report is correct (2.2.x), then the reason would be incompatibility between module and player. Some of the recent Spanish and Chinese modules use flashcards, for which version 2.5.x is required - usually the very latest version. However as there is no version 2.2.x, it makes it difficult to be sure about your version issues. --McCormack 05:36, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- On the other hand, if you had launched the player from this website, it must have been the latest version (2.5.6 at the time you posted this). So my next guess is that this is a memory leak on the flashcard activities. --McCormack 05:40, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- The memory leak in the flashcards was fixed shortly after the above report. --McCormack 08:49, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

- When I created my first drag & drop question, it defaulted to 4 pairs. I increased it to 7 pairs per page and then later changed my mind. I then MANUALLY DELETED (via the "backspace" button) what I had typed in the last couple pairs (instead of actually deleting the pairs completely). This left several blanks, but I didn't think anything of it (just like blanks on a spreadsheet). It didn't affect the program any, but when the scoring results displayed it automatically counted these "blank questions" as being incorrect (even though I never even saw them or answered them during execution). (Stephen Bradd; Feb 2009)
- For the Multi-textfield (LP) question subtype, the TRIPLE COLUMN layout for text field does not display properly. It always displays as a double column with two rows. Additionally, when this issue is being addressed, could a feature be added for quadruple column layout? I have some questions whose formatting could be visually improved greatly with this option. Triple Column Bug--Sbradd 15:43, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- The image can also be uploaded to this wiki. Did you try that? --McCormack 16:56, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- The bug here was the accidental addition of the triple row/column options to the editing interface. It wasn't intended to offer that option! Anyway, triple row/column feature now added. The quadruple one may have to wait. --McCormack 17:09, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

- In the Quiz Maker, when the Publishing dialogue screen pops up, it gives you 2 choices for publishing: Yes or No. However, if a user clicks the CLOSE button ("X"), the module is submitted anyway--instead of being cancelled (as one might expect). This might explain why many users submit things multiple times (unintentionally).--Sbradd 16:09, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- That looks like an urgent bug! Thanks for spotting this. --McCormack 16:48, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Should be fixed as of next release. --17:09, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

- When I'm working with multiple choice, and I delete at least 2 answer options, the Response editor panel freezes, not the program, just that panel. I can save the module, exit the "programme" and continue without any further hindrances. (User:Jbutler, Feb 2009)
- The bug I reported on Feb 24, 2009 pertaining to the CLOSE ("X") button operating as a "YES" submission for the PUBLISHING pop-up screen actually appears to be more serious than I first thought. This might be a GENERAL PROGRAM BUG affecting the entire system. For example, I experienced the same problem today on the "Private Learning Community" Pop-up window (i.e., clicking "X" is the same as clicking "YES"). --Sbradd
- I've noticed a new bug over the past couple weeks in the quiz player pertaining to the flashcard modules I create (I'm not sure if the problem extends beyond flashcards or not). If a user REPEATS a flashcard activity, often the next-to-last question is marked as either "right" or "wrong" even though the user has just begun the activity again from the beginning. It appears the marking is based on how that question was answered in the previous attempt. Once that question is shown, however, it is then marked accurately (based on whether the user got it right or not). So, the bug here is purely cosmetic--it does not affect the scoring or execution of the flashcards in any way. Flashcard Display Bug. --Sbradd 15:12, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- Fixed. --McCormack 16:43, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- Memory Leak Still Leaking? (Flashcards, Player 2.6.0) Enace 00:53, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- Note: this is an isolated Mac-specific report that is currently not recreatable on PC's. More information is needed - most specifically, a list of the modules on this site with which the error occurred. --McCormack 05:04, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- Memory Leak Still Leaking? (Flashcards, Player 2.6.0) Enace 00:53, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- Fixed. --McCormack 16:43, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- Remove cat. doesn't work. 1. I select a question, the corresponding line has a blue shadow. 2. I click on the Remove cat. button, a window appears. 3. I select the last category, the category is highlighted in green. 4. I press ok. The category is removed from the list of available categories, but not from the questions to which it was associated. --Pascal
- It is quite possible this is the case, and a few incoherencies with category deletion have been noted over the years. However none of these problems are known to actually affect functionality of the software - they simply result in redundant information remaining in the module. This is a non-urgent problem. --McCormack 14:50, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
- Deleting several consecutive questions works properly when they are ordered by the field # (by default). However, when the second field (Question) is selected to sort the questions, the 10 consecutive questions won't all be deleted. --Pascal
- Changes in the questions numbers lead to overwrite some of them: some questions are deleted and replaced by doublons of others when the list is sorted by clicking on #.
