The '''Qedoc Translator''' is a tool created to assist translation of the Qedoc software into different languages. Installation is very simple - you just copy the files to the directory described in the ''readme.txt'' file. == How to use == A detailed display of instructions can be activated by clicking the instructions icon - that's the icon in the toolbar with the "i" and the speech bubble. We recommend you read this carefully. This page here (which you reading now) mainly serves to provide post-release updates to the instructions, such as clarifications and bug tracking. This page also serves to integrate into the [[software internationalisation project]] and provide a discussion point for translators. Generally the translator is dead simple to use. You just choose your language (once only; it is remembered after that). Then work your way down the tree display of things to translate. The English displays at the top, and you type in your translation beneath that. There are buttons for saving your work and submitting it (one click only) to Qedoc. === How to extend a translation for an already-released language === If the [[Qedoc Quiz Player]] already has your language in it, it's quite possible that you see that not everything has been translated yet. For example, version 1.500 (listed above) adds several dozen often critical strings which were forgotten in the original translation files. What to do... # Install the new version of the Qedoc Translator as per the usual instructions. # Assuming your language is called "abc", first rename the old translation file "trans_abc.txt" to "trans_abc_old.txt". (We're assuming you already sent your old translation to us). # Then start the Qedoc Translator. It will automatically create a new translation file with all the new strings, and then read in all the existing translations from the PAK file (i.e. as actually released), leaving you with your remaining (new, untranslated) strings clearly marked for translation. # As ever, contact us if there are any problems. == Which languages are supported? == The tool has a preset list of about a dozen different languages. If you wish to translate into a language which isn't on the list, then [[contact Qedoc]].
