The rating of a learning module is an automated assessment of the size and quality of the learning module. It is automatically generated as the module is edited, and stored with the module's metadata.
Ratings are noted on the download pages for modules to give users a rough idea how much work has gone into a module.
However as a rating is a purely computer-generated impression of a module, it is not nearly as reliable as a review or human-generated ratings.
