Batch commands

The question bank has had a second toolbar added with numerous operations which function over all questions.

  • Search function, including extra search forward and search back buttons. Searches can be narrowed to specific categories of question and also to specific fields within a task (such as stimulus, response, feedback, hints, etc).
  • Replace function. Replacements can be conducted case-sensitively or not. Searched strings can match whole words or not. Replacements can be narrowed by category and field as can searches.
  • Batch functions, operating either globally or on selected fields, can be used to edit:
  • Mass deletion, by category or global, is available.

Font support for non-Roman scripts

Unicode-support (UTF-8) was added in earlier versions. However this was not backed up by consistent font support, especially for CJK operating systems. From version 1.4.5 a variety of the most common East Asian fonts are made available when unicode fonts are activated. In addition, changes have been made to the font defaults for controls to ensure that on non-Roman operating systems the letters are properly rendered.

Enhanced licencing options

Free users may now choose between the following Creative Commons licences.

This is part of Qedoc developing policy of inclusivism and of allowing authors freedom over their licence choices.

Metadata and classification

In order to integrate better with 3rd party repositories of open educational resources, as well as integrate module authoring better with Qedoc Quiz Wiki, metadata handling and classification has been improved. The enhanced metadata handling also prepares for upcoming expansion of the Qedoc system into non-English languages.

  • The "about" editor panel has been redesigned, with additional help fields, and a field for the author's country of origin.
  • A "classification" editor panel has been added. As well as keywords, the author can choose:
    • a subject field
    • a language
    • an educational level (primary, secondary, post-secondary or other)

Other changes

  • There is a new convenience facility for fast generation of descriptions. A button next to the description field generates an HTML-formatted list of all current levels. This is useful for those many authors whose creativity runs out when it comes to describing their work.
  • Text component context menus have a decapitalise option. Mainly useful for fixing modules where the author insists on capitalising everything.
  • The title field has a formatter applied to ensure that the characters used are compatible with cataloguing the module in a MediaWiki system.
  • Temporary fix for deleting levels: rename the level to "Delete"; save and then reload the module.
  • The algorithm for splitting jumbled sentences in jumbled sentence task types has been modified to better handle extend and non-Roman characters.
  • Bugs fixed include:
    • The player list scrolling bug was fixed, which means that you can now not only add more than 5 players - you can see and use them as well.
    • Deleting media items doesn't have the unpleasant side-effect of wrecking the metadata of other media items.
    • The feedback field on Moodle XML format exports now works properly.
    • Correct defaults for allowing the printing of certificates and results in the Qedoc Quiz Player.
